We instituted a pathway intentionally limiting narcotics report postoperative narcotic consumption, pain scores, LOS robotic (RRC) with ileal conduit. METHODS: reviewed single-surgeon series consecutive RRCs between August 2015-September 2020. Acetaminophen ketorolac were given thorough patient education reserving oral for breakthrough pain. patients had subcutaneous pumps infusing ropivacaine removed before discharge. Intravenous excluded from orders. Alvimopan was once it became available. Discharge criteria included control, ambulation, function. RESULTS: None the 54 required intravenous postoperatively, nineteen (35%) never even narcotics. Mean body mass index (BMI) peak scores higher who (25.9 kg/m2 vs 28.9 kg/m2, p=0.04 5.3/11 7.5/11, p=0.002, respectively). Among 35 received narcotics, mean tablets taken 4.3/day (range, 1-13) 68% using 8 or less during their entire LOS. 2.1d (range 1-4). Five (9%) discharged on POD#1, 37/54 (68.5%) POD#2, 10/54 (18.5%) POD#3 2/54 (4%) POD#4. Only one readmitted within 90 days. CONCLUSIONS: Minimizing RRC allows 2-day majority patients. Patient critical minimizing avoidance. Ureteroarterial Fistulas After Robotic and Open Radical Cystectomy

Ureteroarterial fistulas (UAFs) are defined as an abnormal communication between one of the major arteries and the ureter. Urologists most frequently encounter iatrogenic fistulas occurring in patients with a history of pelvic extirpative surgery, chronic ureteral catheterization, and history of pelvic radiation. We present two cases of UAFs in patients with no history of prior radiation, who u...

Hospital lymph node counts and survival after radical cystectomy.

BACKGROUND Several studies suggest that patients in whom more lymph nodes are examined have improved survival after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer. Despite growing calls for using lymph node counts as a hospital quality indicator, it has not been established that hospitals that obtain more lymph node have better outcomes. METHODS Using the national Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End R...
